Project at IAS-STS: Responsible, green, and digitalized regional energy transition in Nordland (Norway) and Styria (Austria)
The main objective of the short-term project is to understand the process of digitalized green and responsible energy transitions at the regional level, i.e., Nordland (Norway) and Styria (Austria). The research aims to develop new insights regarding making the regional structural transformation process green, digitalized and responsible using the RRI (Responsible Research and Innovation process). The project will investigate how different regions balance the multiple tradeoffs between the positive and negative impacts of digitalized and green energy transitions at the regional level. Further, the project will also look at the different R&I instruments that need to be developed to ensure that the green and digitalized energy transitions are socially just and responsible. The short project will lead to novel insights regarding developing the necessary skills and competencies of the regional stakeholders involved in the responsible, green, digitalized and smart energy transition and identify potential transition pathways.
