Birgit Hofstätter received a PhD in STS at Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt. Prior to that they graduated in gender studies and received a teaching degree for secondary schools (PPP/English) in Graz. Professionally Birgit has been moving in the space between academic analysis and implementation. After working at IFZ (2006-2015) Birgit was managing director at Internationale Akademie Traunkirchen (2015-2019) and at Frauen*forum Salzkammergut (2019-2025). During this time, they stayed connected with IFZ through project collaborations (Kids4Wearables and MI(N)Tgestalten). Along the way they were teaching at the universities in Klagenfurt and Salzburg. Birgit is member of AG Queer STS and, during the year of Salzkammergut being cultural capital of Europe 2024, they initiated the queer community Salzkammerqueer. Currently Birgit is collaborating in the project TERRA.
