Katerina Psarikidou

Katerina is lecturer at the Science Policy Research Unit at Sussex University. She has been researcher and investigator for a series of EC, EPSRC, HEFCE funded interdisciplinary and cooperative research programmes (e.g. PAGANINI, FAAN, Liveable Cities, AgriFood Resilience). She holds a PhD in Sociology from Lancaster University and an MA in Bioethics from the University of Crete. Katerina is a social scientist interested in the politics of sustainable development, particularly in relation to the politics of science, research and innovation. Her research revolves around the study of the sustainability and innovation potential of alternative agro-food networks and low-carbon mobility systems. She is passionate about developing research alongside non-academic organisations, especially from the third sector. Katerina’s research has been published at journals and books of international impact (e.g. Sustainability: Science Practice and Policy, Local Environment). She is Associate Editor for the International Journal for the Sociology of Agriculture and Food. She is the author of the forthcoming monograph ‘Reclaiming the Knowledge Economy: the case of Alternative Agro-Food Networks’ (Palgrave MacMillan).
