Transformations: A book in honor of Wilhelm Berger

19.09.2022
Our longtime colleague at the joint institute "Technology and Science Studies" (with locations in Graz – at IFZ – and in Klagenfurt – at the university) Wilhelm – Willi – Berger says goodbye to his well-deserved retirement.

A delegation of Graz colleagues, Sandra Karner, Armin Spök, Jürgen Suschek-Berger, Anita Thaler and Bernhard Wieser, celebrated with a small delegation from Klagenfurt and the guest of honor Willi Berger at the former institute location in Sternäckstraße (Klagenfurt). To honor Wilhelm Berger's scientific work, as well as his achievements and commitment to the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Research and Continuing Education, Bernhard Wieser, Kirstin Mertlitsch and Arno Bammé (editors) united the papers of 16 authors, including (former) IFZ colleagues Harald Rohracher, Anita Thaler and Birgit Hofstätter, in the book "Transformations: Social Philosophical Perspectives on Change".
The book deals with current transformation processes and addresses global events such as climate change, the Covid-19 pandemic, economic and social change and changes in traditional gender relations. The complexity of these problems is reflected, as Berger always did with his inductive approach, using concrete examples of current transformation processes.
Like so often, printing a book takes longer than desired, and so Willi Berger was presented with a book cake which proved to be more than a worthy substitute for a printed copy in the course of the celebration.
