Günther Illek is a Senior Researcher and Project Manager at the IFZ – Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Technology, Work and Culture in Graz, Austria. His research focuses on urban logistics, sustainable public procurement, crisis and resilience research, food supply security, and the resilience of critical supply systems.
He graduated from the Montanuniversität Leoben in 2005 with a degree in Mining Surveying and Mining Damage Engineering (Dipl.-Ing.). For more than 20 years, he has been engaged in applied research, project development, and project management.
As Deputy Project Manager of the Austrian KIRAS research project Nationale Reserve, he contributed to research on the resilience of Austrian food supply systems under crisis conditions. His work covered food supply security, crisis scenario development, strategic reserve concepts, supply chain analysis, and household preparedness.
In addition, he has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, expert consultations, online surveys, and participatory research methods. Within the Horizon Europe project ULaaDS – Urban Logistics as an on-Demand Service, he led work packages on stakeholder management, stakeholder mapping, prioritisation methods, and co-creative development processes.
