Anita Thaler is researcher at IFZ, heads the research area Gender, Science and Technology and the working group Queer STS, and she is the Austrian representative of the Management Committee of the COST Action VOICES.
Her research analyses mutual interactions of science, technology and society, with a focus on transition and learning processes towards sustainability and social gender justice
Beside her research in the field of gender and technology, she is also lecturer at the University of Graz and Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt. She has studied psychology (she is a certified work psychologist), education science and women’s and gender studies at the University of Graz and the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt. For her dissertation “Berufsziel Technikerin?” [Professional aim woman engineer? Gender in engineering education.] she received the “Gabriele Possanner"-award 2007 from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research. In 2021 she received the Käthe Leichter Promotion Prize for Women's Studies, Gender Studies and Equality in the World of Work, donated by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.
